Giving when you’re in need
There are times you’re in need, money at hand is low, yet someone else has a need, there’s need to give, to sow a seed. Haba! How can I help? This money isn’t enough you say. Giving when you’re in need might be difficult sometimes.
But it’s amazing that one sure way to expand your finances is by giving. Now look at this –
One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Proverbs 11:24
This verse of scripture talks about giving what you have. Which will yield an increase, but withholding what should be given-out under the guise of not having much, will result in lack. What an irony right?
Let’s learn from another instance in the bible. There’s the story of a widow in Zarephath (1 Kings 17:1-16), who got more after giving from the little she had. She gave and did not lack. I assume she eventually had so much to even give to others during the famine.
See what’s interesting to me,
God fed Elijah with Meat and Bread which HE had commanded Ravens to supply.
-Have you ever wondered, Since ‘God could send ravens, it means HE could also keep the brook from drying’ Why didn’t HE do that?
He must have had a plan anyway. I believe God wanted to favor that particular widow at Zarephath.
God also commanded a widow to sustain Elijah.
-Question: How could that be possible? We can appreciate the story better when we see that this widow didn’t have much when Elijah got to her. So how on earth was she supposed to feed the prophet?
The woman obeyed, and her obedience marked a turning point for her. At first she had food for her son and herself, with no hope of another meal. But she eventually had more food.
There’s even more, her son who later died got raised back to life (1 Kings 17:17-24)
Has the Spirit of God ministered to your heart to do something for someone? Has HE asked you to give to someone, to a course, to a ministry, to the poor etc. and right now it looks like money isn’t much
Giving when you seem to be in a bleak situation can be the turning point for you. It pays to obey God.
God is faithful my friend, HE gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater. Now the question; ‘is that a seed with you or is it bread?’
One way to expand your finance is through giving, it’s quite ironical but it’s true my friend.
