A rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of one or more minerals or mineraloids.
Rocks are known for strength, hardness (which makes them useful for mining) and toughness.
Because of its hardness, a rock can serve as a good foundation to erect a building.
Any building erected on a rock is expected to be structurally stable because it can resist both horizontal and vertical forces that could act on the building.
Jesus said this while HE was still on earth- “Whoever hears these teachings of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house. But it did not fall because it was built on rock. Matt. 7:24-25.
In life’s journey, we are involved in one building project or the other. You are either building your education, your career, your marketability, business, character, skills, family, spiritual life, and the list goes on. The point here is there’s always something to build in life, there’s always room for improvement and each person has a vital role to play in the outcome of their life.
Now we have to agree that the foundation of any structure is of utmost importance as to the life span of such structure. The foundation will comprise of a lot and most importantly, the quality of materials that make up the foundation.
The same can apply to us individuals, the foundation is equally as important as the structure you want to erect in life. How much quality are you willing to put in? What price are you willing to pay to attain a meaningful end? (For God’s glory, I must say).
I’m always in awe anytime I think of this scripture – “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible”. I look at how systematic the universe operates without any human supervision yet the elements still work as ordained by God from creation.
Then I come to this conclusion: ‘since the universe was created by the word of God and didn’t fizzle out, then anything I build on the foundation of God’s word will definitely abide as the Lord lives and HIS word abides true’.
My dear friend, with the help of the Holy Spirit, search out the scriptures to find out principles as they relate to every structure you want to build in life, follow these principles and build a solid life on the rock. When the storms and the winds blow, no matter the magnitude of the challenges you face, as long as you’re on the right foundation and you stand strong, you won’t break.
A wise person will build on the rock… Jesus remains the rock of ages… Build on HIS word today.
