Many widows suffer rejection and reproach; in fact some widows are ill-treated right from the very moment they lose their spouses. Let’s take a close look at the story of a young woman; she had been through a lot in life, unfortunately for her she later became a widow. What a pity!

But even as a widow she had a remarkable story; she applied a major principle of God’s word to her life and she got an outstanding testimony. What did she do?

Let’s have a brief description of this woman… She was a widow who had an only child, lived in Zarephath and was obedient to God. There was a period of famine in the land where she lived and the Lord instructed her to sustain the prophet Elijah who He was going to send her way.

She finally met Elijah who requested a meal from her. Well, she obliged his request even though all she literally had was but enough to have just one meal for herself and her son as she anticipated death (because they were going to feed on their last resource). But her obedience won’t allow her die or lack, instead she enjoyed supernatural supply.

Today many anticipate lack as they carry out a genuine estimate of their resources based on what they have on ground. That’s a realistic one though based on the senses… but the problem with this is that many have difficulties in believing for the supernatural. They have their minds beclouded with so much realities of the world which in turn results in an absence of faith, which is not too good.

For you my beloved, put the word of God to practice and you will have tangible results, follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit and you’d never be put to shame. Just the same way that widow did. It might be hard but God’s word never fails, the principles of the word are worth practicing. You see, that lady obeyed God and what seemed like a foolish decision turned out to be the right one.
