This is the story of a woman called Esther, she was an orphan yet God used Mordecai in her upbringing.

A time came in her life when she was selected to be among a group of women being prepared for king Ahasuerus to pick his new queen from; a replacement for Vashti. She found favour before the man who was placed in charge of this group.

On a set day, after their preparation, she went in to present herself before the king like every other woman in the group.  He loved her more than the other women, she found favour before him and became queen (Esther 2:1-18). This was God’s favour at work.

timeAnother time came when a man named Haman wanted to wipe out God’s people (the Jews) from the land. Mordecai got to know of this plot and informed Esther (who was now in a position of influence where she could wade into the situation), but she was scared to take a risk and help God’s people. At this point Mordecai sent her this message;

Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holds thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knows whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:13-14).

With these words, Esther decided to take the risk, and she found favour before the king, which then led to the deliverance of God’s people from the hand of the wicked, moreover the enemy, Haman was judged instead (Esther 8:7).

God has raised you for specific times as this, times where HE expects you to stand for justice, equity, times to enforce HIS will here on earth, be it in your workplace, politics, media, government and every sphere of your influence. Remember there’s nothing, not even a position that you have that wasn’t given you by God.      (John 3:27, John 19:11)

Don’t shy away from your responsibility; remember where you were and where God has brought you to. HE put you there so that HE can be glorified. So ensure to glorify HIM in your actions and in that position. And if you don’t, remember the story of King Saul how God replaced him with David, a man after God’s heart          (1 Samuel 16:1).

God is sovereign; no man can rise if the Lord doesn’t allow him to. So you’re indebted to God. Wake up to your true responsibility today and let God be glorified through you, let HIM be glorified through that position you occupy. Do what is pleasing to HIM today without fear of what man can do against you.
