Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, one thing thou lacks: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.  Mark 10:21

The above text has received many forms of interpretations; people say Jesus did not actually mean that the rich man should sell what he had, that he definitely didn’t want the rich man to become poor.

But let me let you know that the focus was not on his riches but on where his trust was. If selling all he had would have taken his trust off his riches, then I believe Jesus meant it the way he said it because he went on in Mark 10:24 “And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answered again, and said unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!”

Salvation is by faith in Jesus alone.

It is also important that you put your trust and focus on God all through the journey of your Christian life, never rely on any other, do away with anything that will be a hindrance to your entering heaven as the bible says in Mark 9:43-44 ; And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:  Where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched.

Always remember this; “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62).

It pays to trust God all the way….
Where your treasure is, there will your heart be.
