I’m fed up with church

Walking home a few weeks back, I got into a conversation with this young guy who expressed disappointment in his boss over a behavior that made him consider leaving his home church. To him, if his boss could still speak in such manner after professing to be a Christian and attending the same church with him, why then should he go on in the same church?

Stop attending Church!

I exclaimed…

But yeah, that’s no news.

fed-up of church

Some people have considered this option for different reasons. So it makes me ask- why were you attending church in the first place?

It is through him that we are able to live, to do what we do, and to be who we are. As your own poets have said, ‘We all come from him.’ Act 17:28.

Since this is the case, then we owe HIM our life.

You see, no man is perfect. In fact, many of us have flaws. It’s God’s love that binds us in HIM. His love to us spans right from the time we were wallowing in sin, and Jesus had to die for us. So the one we worship is God. He’s the reason for our existence.

There’s no guarantee that all members of the physical church are perfect people. In fact, because of the nature of man, the church is full of imperfect people, people with flaws and many issues. But the good news is this: we can grow to perfection in Christ alone.

Christ should be our main focus as believers, not the pastor, minister or members. We should please Christ by the help of God’s Spirit, and not man, HE should be at the center of our choices and decisions. And I believe if we had the right perspective on why we attended church, then dumping it ’cos of someone or some issue won’t even be an option.

Quick points to note;

1) Attend a church the Holy Spirit leads you to. At least you’d be sure you’re in the right place.

2) Know that members of the church are men, not angels, neither are they Christ. They have flaws too.

3)When it comes to serving God, don’t let any man steal your joy or dictate your mood. Serve the Lord with gladness and with all your heart.

4) Christ will come for HIS church one day and our works will be tried with fire, (1 Cor.3:13). Even those that troubled you in church, will stand as individuals before God.

So you see, no one, nothing is worth stealing your joy and happiness in Christ. No man is God, all of us will stand before our maker and give account of our stewardship.

But the work that each person does will be clearly seen, because the Day will make it plain. That Day will appear with fire, and the fire will test everyone’s work, (1 Cor.3:13).

Thank you for this post, micheal. for all you do, god bless you.
i tell my people the church is like an organization that advertises a vacancy and the requirements are: you think you have flaws, you think you need some defect repair, you think you need instruction for the next phase, you think you should be corrected in certain areas of your life, you think you need to grow in the knowledge of god, apply within.

no christian should live in isolation. and so the church.

gods desire in ephesians3:10 is that through the church the many sided wisdom of god will be made known to the principalities and powers in heavenly places.
